I fail to see how a speed camera is going to prevent someone j-walking from getting hit by a car. The car's speed is irrelevant when a pedestrian steps out in front of a moving vehicle.

In the land of prancing unicorns that our politicians live in, apparently so.

So their solution to preventing murders is to only ban guns that look scary, make people carry the same amount of bullets in multiple magazines instead of one, and force only law abiding citizens undergo criminal background checks? All of which will change nothing for criminals and crazy people, and negatively effect law abiding citizens. As usual. Useless waste of time and tax dollars.

  • On the article CL&P Wants Customers to Pay $414 Million For Storm Cleanup

Want to hear something even more infuriating? After the Derecho storm bulldozed through Virginia, Maryland, and DC last summer, power was knocked out to millions of people for days, and for many, an entire week or more. The power grid maintenance had been compared to some third world countries and fails whenever the wind blows.

After the recovery, the utilities in MD and DC utilized a little known clause to actually bill customers X dollars for the time when their power was out! Yes, that's right. They actually billed customers for killowatts they didn't use! The power outage was so widespread BECAUSE of their mismanagement and lack of upkeep. And they had the audacity to charge customers for services not provided.

Be on the lookout. I wouldn't be surprised if CL&P tried something like that.

If you are responsible for your part of the structure (inside and out, plus the roof), that is generally defined as a townhouse. The HOA fees are generally much lower since the HOA is not responsible for structures, only common areas. How elaborate the common areas are drives your HOA fees. Your homeowners insurance is closer to that of a normal house since they have to cover the structure.

If you are only responsible for the "interior structure", commonly called the studs inward, with the HOA responsible for the physical structure and exteriors/roof, that would be commonly defined as a condominium. HOA fees are generally much higher since the HOA has to maintain and insure all the structures. Your homeowners insurance would be a condo policy and is quite low since it doesn't have to cover the structure.

It definitely makes it easier. The middle of July, it would be impossible. You could close the gates but there would still be 20,000 people in the park that could never be "evacuated" with any practical success.

I've never seen them close the park for a missing person search. I guess with it being the off-season, it is more practical. Less people in the park makes for a much easier search. How sure are they that he never left the park on foot?

That's exactly what it is about, the rights afforded to married couple. The name already has a meaning, which has nothing to do with religion, so should not even be a point of discussion. Can you or can't you, is the only thing up for debate.

They aren't redefining anything. The government already carries out non-religious man and woman MARRIAGES for millions of people every year. They have nothing to do with the church or religion. And nobody, including the church has ever complained. Now, two men or two woman want to do the same thing, and for some reason people care and pretend it has to do with religion.

  • On the article Your Take: What Would You Do With $300 Million?

Well for starters, my immediate family would be mortgage free and therefore able to retire comfortably without major bills. I would live in a reasonable home exactly where I want, with a small get away home in VT and somewhere down south. Lavish is not necessary, and that's what gets people in trouble.

Once my family and myself are taken care of, the rest (which would be most of it) gets securely invested, not in anything high risk, and live off the interest for the most part.

211 million is enough to not work ever again. But I wouldn't want to be bored. I would have do something. Not sure what though.
