MoCo Food Trucks Park It, Online

A collection of food trucks in Montgomery County organized a collective website, www.mocofoodtrucks.com.

The grown-up lunch line is just as likely to be outside, on the corner of a busy intersection as it is inside of a strip mall restaurant. (And it's been that way for years now.) And while residents and workers in places lousy with food trucks may enjoy the variety and speed of mobile food offerings, keeping up with what's available and when can be a challenge.  A new website, www.mocofoodtrucks.com, organizes about a dozen food trucks within the county and includes a comprehensive calendar of when some of the trucks will be in which area.  Here's how the organizers describe the site: "This site will tell you the three "Ws" of food trucks: Where we are, Who we are and What we serve. Our trucks operate throughout Montgomery County, MD from…

One meat: The Costco that opened earlier this month at the Wheaton mall includes a kosher dairy bakery, Wheaton Patch reported. What makes Costco's bakery different from the other kosher bakeries in the area is that it is dairy, instead of pareve. Pareve baked goods, because they are prepared without dairy or meat, can then be eaten at a meal with either dairy or meat, under kosher guidelines. "Following the same rules, Costco's dairy baked goods cannot be eaten at meals with meat, but its bakery is the only place nearby where you'll be able to find a kosher …

New Restaurant Headlines Greatroom Development At Gaithersburg Marriott

The Bench — a kitchen, lounge and lakeside patio — is slated to open in April.

With all the hoopla about new dining coming to Gaithersburg's Crown development, one restaurant is slated to make its debut in April across the street in Washingtonian Center. The Bench — a kitchen, lounge and lakeside patio — will be part of the new Greatroom at the Gaithersburg Marriott, located at 9751 Washingtonian Blvd. The restaurant's menu has been developed over the past three months by Executive Chef Aaron Tootill, according to a news release. The process is one Tootill relishes. “It’s like an episode of Chopped. We start with about 100 ideas, then narrow them to 20,” Tootill said in a statement. “It takes a lot of tweaking, including multiple tastings and input from corporate chefs.” While the full menu won't be unveiled until …
