Turkey Fryer Safety Tips

The Prince George's County Fire Department offers these tips to reduce the risk of fire and injury when frying a turkey.

Thinking of going a less traditional route this Thanksgiving and deep frying your bird instead of roasting it? According to the Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD), the growing popularity of turkey fryers is cause for concern as they have the potential to cause fires and injuries if not used correctly.  If you are deep frying your turkey this Thanksgiving, the PGFD asks that you follow these federal government recommended steps to maximize safety and minimize the risk of fire and injuries:

Manna Food Center Collecting Thanksgiving Turkeys For Families In Need

Montgomery County's largest food distribution center is collecting Thanksgiving turkeys until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Manna Food Center — Montgomery County's largest food distribution center — is lending a helping hand to more than 300 families in need during Thanksgiving week. The Gaithersburg-based food center will provide 70 pounds of emergency food assistance and donated turkeys to the community, Manna announced Wednesday. Community members can drop off turkey donations to Manna — located at 9311 Gaither Road in Gaithersburg — before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, and they will be passed out to families in need. “The community is instrumental in serving our clients throughout the holiday season and during the rest of the year," Manna Executive Director Minerva Delgado said in a statement.
