Montgomery County police identified 51-year-old Anthony Howard as the man who died after being tasered Friday evening by officers in Gaithersburg. Howard, whose address was not known, was acting erratically Friday, according to police. A 911 caller told police Howard had been standing in a parked pickup truck "yelling profanities, striking the truck with rocks, and crawling on other vehicles." Howard was tasered and restrained with handcuffs after a series of incidents, police said. After being restrained, police noticed that the subject wasn't breathing, authorities said. Howard was later pronounced dead at Shady Grove Hospital. Police are continuing to investigate Howard's death and ask that anyone who witnessed this event and has not …

Authorities are investigating the Friday night death of a 51-year-old Gaithersburg man who police allegedly tasered after he acted erratically and refused orders. According to Montgomery County Police, officers responded to the 8800 block of Cross Country Place in Gaithersburg around 6:11 p.m. for a report of a male subject acting strangely. A 911 caller told authorities that the man was standing in a parked pickup truck "yelling profanities, striking the truck with rocks, and crawling on other vehicles," the MCPD said in a statement. Patients with flu-like symptoms are crowding emergency rooms as officials gear up for what could be a bad flu season.
Montgomery County hospitals are seeing an increase in patients with flu-like symptoms as the number of influenza cases across the state and the country rises and health officials gear up for a flu season that could be the one of the worst in a decade. The flu is spreading earlier and faster than usual in the Washington, DC, region this year, The Washington Post reported, and Maryland is experiencing widespread cases. In Maryland so far this season, 2,362 have tested positive for the flu, according to The Baltimore Sun.
