Sergio Hernandez, 24, robbed and assaulted people playing poker at a College Park apartment in 2011, The Gazette reported.
A 24-year-old Gaithersburg man was sentenced to 60 years in prison for his role in a violent robbery of a College Park poker game in 2011, according to a report by The Gazette. Sergio Hernandez "was convicted on 52 of 53 counts of robbery, assault and related charges stemming from the holdup that involved Hernandez beating victims in the head with firearms before fleeing with money, cell phones, clothing and other valuables," according to the report. Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said in a statement that having witnesses identify Hernandez as a gunman in the incident was a key to the conviction. After the woman was assaulted, she noticed that cash was missing from her purse.
A woman was punched in the eye and robbed in the trash room of a Potomac apartment building Nov. 18, according to Montgomery County police. A 43-year-old woman was in the basement trash room of an apartment building in the 10500 block of Montrose Road around 6:30 p.m. when she noticed a man rummaging through the trash, according to police spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Innocenti. The woman asked the man if she could help him, and he turned and punched the woman in the eye, Innocenti said. The man then ran up the steps and fled the building, Innocenti said. Police do not yet have anyone in custody.
One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries tonight after being stabbed during a robbery on Nina Court in Gaithersburg, police said. Montgomery County Police confirm that the victim was stabbed shortly before 8:30 this evening in the unit block of Nina Court. The stabbing happened during a robbery, police said, and no one is yet in custody. Assistant Chief Scott Graham, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue service, said EMS crews responded to the stabbing, but he could offer no information on the condition of the victim. Detectives say Gunn robbed two Kentlands salons and five other businesses in Rockville and Germantown.
UPDATE: Police have charged Ramon Michael Gunn, 25, with six additional armed robberies that occurred in Rockville, Gaithersburg and Germantown. Gunn was arrested on Feb. 18 after police observed him allegedly robbing Night Dreams, an adult toy store in Rockville. While questioning him, police said Gunn admitted to several additional armed robberies, including two hair salons in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg. Montgomery County Police have arrested a 21-year-old Gaithersburg man they say sexually assaulted a woman in Gaithersburg in December. Christopher Johnson, of the 9300 block of Willow Creek Drive, in the Verandahs neighborhood of Gaithersburg, was arrested Feb. 7 and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree sex offense, and robbery, police said. He was being held without bond, pending a bond review scheduled for today at 1pm in Rockville. (Updated 4:53 p.m.) Montgomery County Police said three suspects were involved the kidnapping, robbery and attempted murder of a 31-year-old Germantown man. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer McNeal said one man — 24-year-old Quinnton Brown of the 8900 block of Footed Ridge, Columbia, Md., — was arrested. McNeal was unable to provide information about the other two suspects. The robberies happened just days apart.
For the second time in two weeks, a hair salon on Main Street in the Kentlands has been robbed at gunpoint. Last night at approximately 8pm, Gaithersburg City and Montgomery County officers were called to Salon G at 316 Main Street for the report of a robbery, police said. A masked man entered the salon just as it was closing, approached an employee and demanded cash, police report. The suspect then ordered the employee to the bathroom, put a gun to her head and touched her inappropriately. The suspect then left out the back door towards Whole Foods Market, police said. A 24-year-old Gaithersburg man police say robbed a man at gunpoint in December was released on bond today after being arrested yesterday. Police arrested Torre Desmond Gray Sr. of Girard Street in Gaithersburg on Jan. 25, and charged him with armed robbery, use of a firearm, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, theft less than $1000, credit card theft and attempted credit card theft.
