Lopez Convicted in Deaths of Germantown Mom, Son

'To kill an innocent 11-year-old child is beyond forgivable. This guy should spend the rest of his waking moments behind bars,' John J. McCarthy, State’s Attorney for Montgomery County, tells The Gazette.

Curtis Lopez was found guilty Friday of murdering his wife, Jane McQuain, and her 11-year-old son, William, in 2011, according to published accounts. Lopez will be sentenced in April and faces life in prison. John J. McCarthy, State’s Attorney for Montgomery County reportedly told The Gazette: “Mr. Lopez faces life in prison because of the heinous crimes he has committed. To kill an innocent 11-year-old child is beyond forgivable. This guy should spend the rest of his waking moments behind bars. The only just sentence for this double murderer is life without the possibility of parole.” Lopez, 46, did not admit guilt but entered an Alford plea, which acknowledges there is enough evidence for a conviction, The Washington Post reports. “Such …

I think that it is safe to say that ALL of his fellow students, athletes, friends & family within Germantown & beyond...would be grateful to hear about true justice and an appropriate sentence for Curtis Lopez - but I am afraid that there is NO justice that can comfort us all - for NOTHING will bring Jayne or William back.
