Update: Frederick Woman Killed In Fatal Crash Near I-270S Shady Grove Exit
A fatal accident on Interstate 270 southbound caused major delays Monday morning for commuters in the Gaithersburg-Rockville area.
(Update, 8:20 p.m.) Maryland State Police have identified Maria Durdandal, 50, of Frederick, as the driver who was killed in an early-morning, single-car crash on Interstate 270 southbound near the Shady Grove Road exit, according to an NBC Washington report. Police said the impact of the collision was so severe that portions of the concrete barrier struck by Durdandal's car broke off and landed on northbound I-270, and Durdandal was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report. Deborah, I have said this for several years. There needs to be a second entrance off of Watkins Mill Road, possibly nearer the bottom of the hill on Watkins Mill Road, coming up behind the football stadium tying into the drop off drive where it is located today, next to the auditorium   more ›
