Man Pleads Guilty to Depraved Heart Murder in Gaithersburg Hit-and-Run Death

Police said the Damascus resident ran one man down with his car, targeted another.

A Damascus man has pleaded guilty to second-degree depraved heart murder in connection to the December hit-and-run death of a Potomac man in Gaithersburg, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's office said. "Depraved heart murder is the reckless action and wonton disregard for human life that a defendant takes or has towards another," according to a release from the State's Attorney's office. Fernando Josue Valenzuela, 20, of the unit block of Valley Park Court in Damascus, faces up to 20 years in prison. Under the plea agreement, he will not be tried on the original charges of one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. Police Make Arrest In December Hit-and-Run Death in Gaithersburg

A Potomac man was killed after he and his brother were run down by a car near 211 W. Diamond Ave.

Montgomery County police have made an arrest in connection to a Dec. 5 vehicle-related homicide in Gaithersburg, according to a news release. Fernando Josue Valenzuela, 20, of the unit block of Valley Park Court in Damascus, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, police said. Valenzuela is suspected of killing Billie Jay Genies, 34, of the 12600 block of Tobytown Drive in Potomac, after Valenzuela ran the victim down with his car near 211 W. Diamond Avenue, police said. Valenzuela also targeted Genies' brother, now 35-year-old James R. Genies, also of the 12600 block of Tobytown Drive, police said. Man Dies After Being Run Down By Car In Gaithersburg

Montgomery County police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Montgomery County police are investigating the early Wednesday vehicle-related death of a 34-year-old man in Gaithersburg as a homicide. Police responded to the report of a pedestrian struck on West Diamond Avenue at 1:17 a.m. and found a deceased victim at 211 West Diamond Avenue, police said. A surviving, 34-year-old victim was found a short distance away. The surviving 34-year-old told police he and his brother — the deceased — were given a ride by subjects in a black Honda Civic earlier in the morning, police said. As they were walking along West Diamond Avenue, they were struck by a black Honda Civic, police said. Hang Gets Life Without Parole For Gaithersburg Murder Of 12-Year-Old Stepdaughter

A Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge sentenced David Hang to life in prison without parole for the May 2011 killing of Hang's 12-year-old stepdaughter in Gaithersburg, The Washington Post reported. Hang was found guilty in August, when prosecutors said Hang killed the child with a sword — stabbing her more than 40 times — to get back at Nguyen's family, who contested his divorce of the girl's mother, Khen Kim Vu, in 2010. Report: Jury Finds Hang Guilty in Stabbing Death of 12-Year-Old Gaithersburg Girl

Montgomery County jury finds David Rich Hang guilty of murdering his estranged stepdaughter in her Gaithersburg home, according to news reports.

After deliberating nearly seven hours, a Montgomery County jury Wednesday found David Rich Hang guilty of murdering his 12-year-old estranged stepdaughter by stabbing her more than 40 times, The Gazette reported. Hang, 43, of Hyattsville, was accused of stabbing to death Jessica Nguyen, a then-Gaithersburg Middle School student, at her Gaithersburg home in May 2011. According to The Gazette, prosecutors said Hang killed the child with a sword to get back at Nguyen's family, which contested his divorce of the girl's mother, Khen Kim Vu, in 2010 — a marriage Montgomery County prosecutors described as "an immigration sham type of marriage." Trial Begins For Man Charged With Killing Young Stepdaughter

David Rich Hang is accused of murdering his 12-year-old stepdaughter, Jessica Nguyen, in her Gaithersburg home.

  The trial for a man charged in the killing of his 12-year-old stepdaughter in her Gaithersburg home began Tuesday, according to a report by The Gazette. David Rich Hang, 43, was arrested and charged with the murder of Jessica Nguyen, a Gaithersburg Middle School student, on Oct. 18, 2011, nearly five months after the girl was found stabbed to death in her basement. Hang's Lawyer Brian D. Shefferman, a Montgomery County public defender, told the jury his client was nowhere near the home when Nguyen was killed on May 31, 2011. He called the incident an “unbelievable tragedy” and denied any accusation that Hang had anything to do with the crime, The Gazette reported. Father Charged with First-Degree Murder

Update, 3:01 p.m.: Montgomery County Police identified the victim of the Saturday night shooting death as Matthew Eugene Price. His father, Wayne Matthew Price, 55, has been charged with first-degree murder, police said. His bail review is set for 1 p.m. Monday. Police added new details to what they released earlier. Sixth District Police officers as well as fire and rescue personnel were sent to an apartment parking lot in the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle in Gaithersburg about 8:44 p.m. Saturday. Lopez Indicted on 5 Counts in McQuain Deaths

Two counts each of kidnapping and murder, plus one count of robbery.

The man charged in the death of his  estranged wife in Germantown and her 11-year-old son has been indicted on murder, kidnapping and robbery counts, a Montgomery County prosecutor said Thursday. Curtis Lopez, a 45-year-old North Carolina resident, is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 6, Deputy State's Attorney John Maloney said. A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Lopez on two counts each of murder and kidnapping and one count of robbery. His attorney, public defender Alan Drew, declined to comment. Gaithersburg Man Indicted for Murder of 12-Year-Old Stepdaughter

A grand jury indicted David Rich Hang for the murder of Jessica Nguyen.

A grand jury today indicted David Rich Hang, the Gaithersburg man accused of killing his 12-year-old stepdaughter Jessica Nguyen in May, the Gazette reports. Hang, who has been in custody since police arrested him in October, will have his trial date scheduled at a Dec. 22 hearing. He worked for the County as a RideOn bus driver for four years. He is charged with first degree murder. Nguyen was found in the basement of her family's former home in the 700 block of Raven Avenue on May 31. Police have said she was stabbed more than 40 times.
