After filing suit in June to cash in on the insurance policy taken out on missing North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner, Gary Giordano is being sued by his insurers, who hope to void the policy all together, The Washington Examiner reported. Giordano, of Gaithersburg, was held in Aruba last year in the disappearance of Gardner, his vacation partner. Shortly before the trip, Giordano purchased an insurance policy from AMEX Assurance Company, which included $1.5 million in accidental death or dismemberment coverage on Gardner's life, the Examiner reported. Family and friends hold vigil in honor of missing North Bethesda woman.
August 2 marks a year since North Bethesda resident Robyn Gardner disappeared while on vacation in Aruba. To mark the somber anniversary, family and friends held a vigil in her honor Tuesday, WJLA reported. Gardner, who maintained an apartment in Frederick but had been living with her boyfriend in Grosvenor, was traveling with Gaithersburg businessman Gary Giordano when she went missing. Giordano told Aruban authorities Gardner disappeared while the two were snorkeling. Giordano was held for more than 100 days in the disappearance, but was never charged. A man suspected in the disappearance of a woman in Aruba was arrested for indecent exposure in Annapolis last week. At around 6 p.m. Friday, two bike patrol officers responded to a report of sexual activity in a vehicle at the Noah Hillman garage, police said. Upon approaching a black Cadillac Escalade, the officers discovered Gary Giordano, 51, of Gaithersburg and Carol Bock of Tennessee on top of a mattress inside the vehicle, according to a police report. North Bethesda woman has been missing in Aruba for over a month.
The Today Show aired new surveillance footage Monday of Robyn Gardner, the North Bethesda woman missing in Aruba. Gardner's traveling companion, Gary V. Giordano of Gaithersburg, is being held in connection with her disappearance. Giordano has told authorities Gardner was swept away while snorkeling, but people close to Gardner have riased doubts about his story. The surveillance footage shows Gardner, 35, and Giordano, 50, at a restaurant in Aruba just prior to her disappearance. It also shows Giordano after the time he said Gardner went missing, apparently looking for help. Update, Aug. 13, 6:33 a.m.: Dozens of firefighters in Aruba serached an abandoned phosphate mine Friday in an attempt to find Robyn Gardner, the New York Daily News reported. A Gaithersburg business owner is being investigated by police in Aruba for the disappearance of a 35-year-old Bethesda woman, NBC reports. On Friday, authorities detained Gary Giordano, 50, of Gaithersburg, as he was trying to leave Aruba. Robyn Gardner of Bethesda was last seen Aug. 2 at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino in Oranjestad, Aruba, according to the Washington Post.
