Report: Paladar Latin Kitchen To Join Crown Lineup

The Cleveland-based Latin restaurant will come to Gaithersburg next year, The Washington Business Journal reports.

Another tenant is scheduled to be joining the Downtown Crown lineup, following quickly behind news of Georgetown Square Wine and Beer opening a location in the Gaithersburg development. Cleveland-based Paladar Latin Kitchen is scheduled to open on Fields Road in Gaithersburg in 2014, The Washington Business Journal reports. "Paladar Latin Kitchen and rum bar serves 50 types of rum and cuisine from Central and South America, Cuba and the Caribbean," according to the report. Read more on The Washington Business Journal. New Restaurant Headlines Greatroom Development At Gaithersburg Marriott

The Bench — a kitchen, lounge and lakeside patio — is slated to open in April.

With all the hoopla about new dining coming to Gaithersburg's Crown development, one restaurant is slated to make its debut in April across the street in Washingtonian Center. The Bench — a kitchen, lounge and lakeside patio — will be part of the new Greatroom at the Gaithersburg Marriott, located at 9751 Washingtonian Blvd. The restaurant's menu has been developed over the past three months by Executive Chef Aaron Tootill, according to a news release. The process is one Tootill relishes. “It’s like an episode of Chopped. We start with about 100 ideas, then narrow them to 20,” Tootill said in a statement. “It takes a lot of tweaking, including multiple tastings and input from corporate chefs.” While the full menu won't be unveiled until …

Crown Developers Share Plan For Community Rec Center

Early plans for the 2.3 acre Crown Community and Recreation Center were shared with Gaithersburg's mayor, City Council and Planning Commission.

Developers for Gaithersburg's Crown development unveiled early plans for a 2.3 acre community and recreation center at Monday evening's mayor and City Council meeting. As part of a public hearing with the City Council and Planning Commission, SunBrook Partners Vice President Bobby Zeiller explained plans for a facility to include a club house, swimming pool, tennis courts and more. "This is an exciting project for us...it's one that will be shared by everyone who lives there and the surrounding community," Zeiller said. The plan proposes a main building between 4,800 and 7,500 square feet, with a maximum height of four stories, according to city documents. Six New Restaurants Announced For Crown Development

Construction on the Crown development officially started at Thursday's groundbreaking ceremony.

Already set to feature a Harris Teeter and an LA Fitness, Downtown Crown will also include six restaurants as part of the shopping area's retail dining corridor, according to officials for the development. JBG Rosenfeld Retail principal Krista Di Iaconi told Patch the group is "excited about the eclectic mix [of restuarants] we have signed on." JBGR is responsible for filling 260,000 square feet of retail space in Downtown Crown. Gaithersburg city and Montgomery County officials join for a groundbreaking ceremony to officially start construction on the Crown development.

A scale model of Downtown Crown — the heart of Gaithersburg's new 182-acre Crown development — made its debut at Thursday morning's official groundbreaking ceremony, bringing to life the future vision of the property's main retail and dining corridor.
