Following last night's state roll call, there was nothing left for the president to do but take the stage and accept the party's nomination, while touting the past term's accomplishments and promising future prosperity. President Obama accepts the Democratic National Convention’s invitation to run for a second term.
The Democratic Convention cancelled President Barack Obama’s acceptance speech in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium due to bad weather. In the meantime, the president is at work on his speech in a North Carolina hotel room. While he’s working on his speech, we want to hear from you. What should Obama address in his acceptance speech? The hopeful and forward-looking tone of Tuesday’s speakers was replaced with targeted barbs at the Republican candidates and the GOP platform. Former President Bill Clinton formally re-nominated Barack Obama as the Democrat candidate. By David Gutman Capital News Service CHARLOTTE, N.C. - John Delaney, the Democratic challenger for the U.S. House seat in Maryland's 6th Congressional District, drew praise on Tuesday from many of the same Maryland Democratic politicians who had shunned him during his primary battle. The praise came at a luncheon for the Maryland delegation to the Democratic Convention in Charlotte. Delaney was the luncheon's keynote speaker. The Democratic National Convention kicks off at 5 p.m. in Charlotte, NC and Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is among the notable speakers Tuesday evening.
