The District 2 representative will leave after first term.
Board of Education member Laura Berthiaume will not seek re-election in 2012, the Parents' Coalition of Montgomery County reported. Berthiaume of Rockville, told the Gazette she wants to spend more time with her three children, which had been difficult to do along with her duties on the board. She represents District 2, which includes the Rockville, Richard Montgomery, Wootton, Winston Churchill and Northwest clusters. Berthiaume said Montgomery County Public Schools' recently approved school redistricting, which would reduce the size of District 2, did not factor into her decision.
