Report: Giordano Sued Over Insurance Policy on Missing Woman

AMEX Assurance Company seeks to void Gary Giordano's $1.5 million accidental death or dismemberment coverage policy on Robyn Gardner, The Washington Examiner reports.

After filing suit in June to cash in on the insurance policy taken out on missing North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner, Gary Giordano is being sued by his insurers, who hope to void the policy all together, The Washington Examiner reported. Giordano, of Gaithersburg, was held in Aruba last year in the disappearance of Gardner, his vacation partner. Shortly before the trip, Giordano purchased an insurance policy from AMEX Assurance Company, which included $1.5 million in accidental death or dismemberment coverage on Gardner's life, the Examiner reported. AMEX Assurance Company filed a lawsuit last week in Greenbelt, MD, hoping to void Giordano's policy, asking for "a declaration that no valid claim could be made for death benefits pertaining …

One Year Later, Robyn Gardner's Family Hopes For Answers

Family and friends hold vigil in honor of missing North Bethesda woman.

August 2 marks a year since North Bethesda resident Robyn Gardner disappeared while on vacation in Aruba. To mark the somber anniversary, family and friends held a vigil in her honor Tuesday, WJLA reported. Gardner, who maintained an apartment in Frederick but had been living with her boyfriend in Grosvenor, was traveling with Gaithersburg businessman Gary Giordano when she went missing. Giordano told Aruban authorities Gardner disappeared while the two were snorkeling. Giordano was held for more than 100 days in the disappearance, but was never charged. Today Show Airs Surveillance Footage of Robyn Gardner In Aruba

North Bethesda woman has been missing in Aruba for over a month.

The Today Show aired new surveillance footage Monday of Robyn Gardner, the North Bethesda woman missing in Aruba. Gardner's traveling companion, Gary V. Giordano of Gaithersburg, is being held in connection with her disappearance. Giordano has told authorities Gardner was swept away while snorkeling, but people close to Gardner have riased doubts about his story. The surveillance footage shows Gardner, 35, and Giordano, 50, at a restaurant in Aruba just prior to her disappearance. It also shows Giordano after the time he said Gardner went missing, apparently looking for help. ABC News and the AP have previously reported that Giordano attempted to cash in on a $1.5 million insurance policy he took out on Gardner after she disappeared. …

UPDATE: Giordano Held Another 60 Days in Aruba

Update, 11:50p.m.: An Aruban judge ruled today that Giordano should be held for another 60 days while authorities continue to question him, People Magazine reported. FBI Searching Giordano's Gaithersburg Home

Update, Aug. 13, 6:33 a.m.: Dozens of firefighters in Aruba serached an abandoned phosphate mine Friday in an attempt to find Robyn Gardner, the New York Daily News reported. The mine is near where Gardner is said to have gone missing Aug. 2 after snorkeling expedition with Gary V. Giordano. Also on Friday, Aruban authorities said they believe Gardner is no longer alive, Fox News reported. Gaithersburg Business Owner Investigated for Aruba Disappearance

He claims the Bethesda woman he was with washed away while scuba diving.

A Gaithersburg business owner is being investigated by police in Aruba for the disappearance of a 35-year-old Bethesda woman, NBC reports. On Friday, authorities detained Gary Giordano, 50, of Gaithersburg, as he was trying to leave Aruba. Robyn Gardner of Bethesda was last seen Aug. 2 at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino in Oranjestad, Aruba, according to the Washington Post. The Aruba Herald is reporting that Giordano, the man she was traveling with, told authorities there that she disappeared during a snorkeling excursion. NBC reports that Giordano has had several restraining orders against him in Montgomery County by former girlfriends who claim he stalked and physically abused them.
