The Barnesville School puts a new twist on a traditional event.

The Barnesville School's annual Arts & Academics Night went on the road this year. The evening included special dance performances by the Middle School students.

The Barnesville School’s Arts & Academics Night, a celebration of student work throughout the school year, was held at BlackRock Center of the Arts in Germantown, Md., on May 23. The evening included special dance performances by the Middle School students who worked with ClancyWorks Dance Company during the month of May.

A new twist on a School traditional, this year’s Arts & Academics Night is an example of the ongoing partnership established by The Barnesville School and BlackRock to forward the connections between art and academics. While most schools hold similar events each year to highlight student work, The Barnesville School is reaching beyond the school walls to engage other members of the community and enhance students’ education.

Dancers from ClancyWorks choreographed a series of dances and instructed students in fifth through eighth grades, who performed for their parents, guests and teachers in the BlackRock dance studio.
