Lady 'Rines Look to End Three-Game Skid

Watkins Mill lost big to Poolesville last night after a hard-fought loss to Seneca Valley on Friday.

Watkins Mill girls' basketball is in desperate need of a win heading into Wednesday night's home game against Damascus, having dropped their last three games to slide to 1-4 on the season.

The Lady ‘Rines came up short in a back-and-forth game against Seneca Valley Friday night, followed by a 28-point blowout at Poolesville on Monday.

Against Seneca Valley, Watkins Mill trailed 18-12 at halftime and 24-20 after three quarters. The offense came to life from there, scoring more points in the fourth quarter than they did in the entire first half, but the Screaming Eagles were able to fend off the comeback.

Three days later at Poolesville, the Falcons got the drop on Watkins Mill from the get go, taking a 20-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and a 32-13 lead at the half. Rosie Barry and Shannon Hemp tied for a game-high 10 points each as the Falcons cruised to a 55-27 win. Josepha Mbouma led Watkins Mill with 9 points.

Watkins Mill takes on a tough Damascus squad at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The Hornets (4-3) beat Poolesville 43-35 on Friday night.
