Watkins Mill High School is gearing up to welcome students back on Aug. 29 with 15 new faces among the team of more than 180 professional and supporting staff.
Math
- Theo Josephs – Algebra I and II
- Cynthia Reese – AP Statistics, Bridge Algebra 2A. Reese is formerly of Neelsville Middle School
- Robert Bowie Smith – Related Math, College Test Prep (part-time)
Tech Ed

- Glenn Brooks – Career and Technology Education. Brooks previously taught at Watkins Mill and will be the Academy of Finance’s coordinator.
- Florence Chukwurah – Foundations of Technology (part-time)
- Andre Braxton – Principles of Engineering, as well as Introduction to Engineering Design in the “Project Lead the Way” program.
English
- Sara Goodman – journalism, 9th-grade English. Goodman is formerly of Clarksburg High School, where she helped students publish award-winning newspapers.
- Tamatha Kirby – 11th-grade English.
- Maurice Johnson – reading, theater (part-time).
- Kishanna L. Harley – English. Harley is formerly of John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring.
Art

- Sean Clay – Foundation of Art, Pre-IB and IB studio and visual arts. Clay is formerly of Maryvale Elementary School in Rockville.
Science
- Nathan Hilburger – physical science, biology. Hillburger has relocated from New York.
Foreign Language
- Rosa Fakhrai – French 1A and 2A (part-time)
Media Specialist
- Sarah Bourgeois is formerly of Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda
Counseling
- Sabrina Murray – counselor for students whose last name begins with A, B and N. Murray is formerly of Montgomery Village Middle School.
The counselor for students C-F has yet to be determined. Returning counselors are:

Adam Saltzman – L through Ma
Christine Pickeral – Mb through M
Kevin Horkan – O through Sh
Tammy Wojtyna – Si through Z
There is also a change in the school’s administrative team. Kiera Bodden was promoted from resource counselor to assistant school administrator. Bodden is taking over for Veronica Matthews, who was promoted to a position in the school system’s central office. Accordingly, student assignments have been shifted as follows:
- Bodden: all freshmen
- Cary Dimmick: all sophomores, and juniors A through L
- Charles Feamster: all seniors, and juniors M through Z
