Instead of flushing outdated drugs you find in your medicine cabinet, this weekend the Montgomery County Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration will offer a safe way to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.
Prescription Drug Take Back Day takes place Saturday across Montgomery County. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Montgomery County residents can drop off unwanted and unused prescription drugs at police stations around the county.
Residents of the first district, including Potomac and Rockville, can anonymously dispose of medications at a collection box in the first district police station parking lot at 1451 Seven Locks Rd. In the event of inclement weather, medications drop-off will take place in the station lobby.
Illicit drugs and needles will not be accepted during this take back program, according to a police release. For safety reasons, personal information should be removed from pill bottles.
All drugs collected during the take-back will be incinerated by the DEA.
