Speak Out: Does Maryland Need to Take DC Back?

A Texas congressman introduced a bill that would return federal land to the state.

Should Maryland take back the land it ceded to the federal government to create the District of Columbia? No, seriously, should we?

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is committed to the idea, The Huffington Post reported, introducing his second bill in six years that would re-gift Maryland the land it ceded 222 years ago.

“It's not going anywhere, and you have a guy from Texas making legislation for two jurisdictions, neither of which elect him and neither of which are going to support it,” DC Shadow Senator Paul Strauss told HuffPost DC. “To that extent, it's about as valid as if me or the delegate pushed legislation that would unite Texas and Oklahoma together.”
