Montgomery Village Named Tree City USA Community

It is the 26th year Montgomery Village has received this national recognition.

Montgomery Village has been named a 2013 Tree City USA community by The National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. It is the 26th year Montgomery Village has received this national recognition.

According to the National Arbor Day Foundation, Montgomery Village has met four criteria to become a Tree City USA, including a tree board or department; a tree care ordinance; maintaining a community forestry budget; and holding an official Arbor Day observance.

Montgomery Village celebrated Arbor Day by planting black gum trees at North Creek Community Center.

“Everyone benefits when elected officials, volunteers and committed citizens in communities like Montgomery Village make smart investments in urban forests,” said John Rosenow, founder and chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Trees bring shade to our homes and beauty to our neighborhoods, along with numerous economic, social and environmental benefits.”

Cleaner air, improved storm water management, energy savings and increased property values are among the benefits enjoyed by Tree City USA communities.
