Woman Escapes Attempted Rape on Montgomery Village Ave

Police offer reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Montgomery County Police are asking the public for help after a 23-year-old woman was attacked shortly after midnight and dragged into the woods as she walked down Montgomery Village Avenue—a rape attempt thwarted when a passing bicyclist distracted the attacker and allowed his victim to break free.

The suspect had been following the woman on foot when he attacked her near Stewartown Road at around 12:15 a.m., according to police. He is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, 5' 6" to 5' 8" tall, weighing 200 to 225 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to call police at 240-773-5070. Anonymous callers can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or an indictment.
