Thieves Go on Honda Accord Airbag Spree

The following information was supplied by Montgomery County Police. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

This crime summary combines two weekly reportsfrom Nov. 28 through Dec. 13for the Montgomery County Police Department's Sixth District, which covers Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg.

 

A residential burglary occurred in the 20000 block of Mattingly Terrace in the Hadley Farms community outside Montgomery Village on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Forced entry; property removed.

An aggravated assault occurred in the area of Clubhouse Road and Watkins Mill Road in just before midnight on Friday, Dec. 2. A group of five to six males assaulted the victim and fled. No property was taken.

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at the U-Haul storage lot at 7831 Beechcraft Ave. near the Montgomery County Airpark on Monday, Dec. 5. Suspects attempted to cut the padlock off the door of one storage unit.

A residential burglary occurred in the 18200 block of Fifeshire Drive in The Hamptons neighborhood of South Village between Tuesday, Dec. 6 and Thursday, Dec. 8. No sign of forced entry; property reported missing.

Airbags were stolen from six vehicles overnight from Wednesday, Dec. 7 to Thursday, Dec. 8. Three were in East Village; the other three occurred four miles away in the Laytonia neighborhood off Muncaster Mill Road. In all six instances, the suspect(s) forced entry and stole the driver’s side airbag.

An attempted armed robbery occurred near Odendhal and Russell avenues in Gaithersburg on Saturday, Dec. 10. An adult male victim said he was assaulted by four Hispanic males—one of whom wore a gray hoodie—and that a knife was involved. The victim fled on foot.

An armed robbery occurred in the stairwell of the 18500 block of Boysenberry Drive in the Christopher Court Condominiums on Tuesday, Dec. 13. An adult male and female were at their front door when the suspect ran up the stairs and demanded all their property. The male began to struggle with the suspect until the suspect lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun. The victims turned over their property and the suspect fled. The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 19 to 26 years old, 5’7” to 6’0” tall, wearing a black hoodie and black fleece pants.
