UPDATE: Shotgun-Armed Robbers Strike Again

Detectives issue photos of their primary suspect.

UPDATE 5:27 p.m. Dec. 2 -- Montgomery County police have released surveillance images of the man detectives believe to be behind a string of armed robberies around Montgomery Village.

Police today issued three photos from the Nov. 17 robbery at the CVS pharmacy in the Montgomery Village Center, the third of the four robberies.

The fourth robbery occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, also at the CVS. Armed with a sawed-off shotgun, the suspect obtained money from the cashier and fled on foot. Police say he had his face covered and wore a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray sneakers.

Police previously released video footage from the first robbery, at the 7-Eleven in the Montgomery Village Center on Oct. 12. Watch the footage here.

The second robbery—at the 7-Eleven at 9503 Snouffer School Road on Oct. 27— involved another suspect who police believe to be working with the suspect in the other three.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE, 2:45 p.m. Nov. 30  -- The spree of armed robberies around Montgomery Village saw its latest strike early this morning at the CVS pharmacy in the Montgomery Village Center, the fourth time in less than two months in which masked men entered a 24-hour store late at night, brandished a sawed-off shotgun and made off with cash.

The 7-Eleven convenience store in the Montgomery Village Center was first to be targeted, followed two weeks later by the 7-Eleven on Snouffer School Road just outside Montgomery Village. The two most recent robberies have come at the CVS pharmacy.

Montgomery County Police believe the same suspects are behind the crimes and are offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Anyone with information about the crimes or the suspects is asked to call police at 240-773-5100. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

No one has been hurt and no shots have been fired in the four robberies. Police have provided the following description of the four robberies:

Oct. 12 The 7-Eleven at 19235 Watkins Mill Road, in the Montgomery Village Center

  • A few minutes before midnight, a suspect—described as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 6’ to 6’2” tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds—entered the store with a shotgun, took a white plastic bag out of his pocket, ordered the cashier to put money inside it and fled on foot across the parking lot towards Watkins Mill Road. He was wearing a dark-colored pea coat, blue jeans, a black scarf or cloth over his face, black sunglasses and black gloves. Watch surveillance footage here.

Oct. 27 The 7-Eleven at 9051 Snouffer School Road, in the Horizon Run shopping center

  • A departing 7-Eleven customer saw two men wearing masks standing outside the store shortly after 1:30 a.m. One suspect—described as a light-skinned male, 5’8” tall and wearing a black jacket—went in, displayed a shotgun, took a white plastic bag out of his pocket and demanded cash. The suspect who stayed outside was described as wearing dark sunglasses and all-black clothing. They both fled on foot.

Nov. 17 The CVS pharmacy at 19100 Montgomery Village Ave., in the Montgomery Village Center

  • At around 1:15 a.m. The suspect entered the store, brandished a shotgun and announced the robbery before fleeing with cash. The suspect was described as a 30-year-old black male, 6’ tall and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds. He wore a ski mask and a dark blue or black jacket with a white stripe from the collar down each arm.

Nov. 30 The CVS pharmacy at 19100 Montgomery Village Ave., in the Montgomery Village Center

  • At 3:45 a.m., a suspect matching descriptions from the three earlier robberies entered the CVS with a shotgun, demanded cash and fled on foot.
