Officer Injured in Montgomery Village Crash

The officer's cruiser hit a tree Thursday morning.

A Montgomery County police officer was injured Thursday morning when her cruiser crashed into a tree in Montgomery Village.

A police spokesman told WUSA9 that the department received a call around 9:53 a.m. about a crash at Montgomery Village Avenue and Stedwick Road.

Investigators learned that the officer was responding to the scene of a domestic violence call when her marked cruiser left the roadway and struck a tree, the Gazette reported. The lights and sirens were turned on when the incident occurred, WUSA9 reported.

Police are trying to figure out if another vehicle failed to yield to the cruiser before the crash, WUSA9 reported.

The officer was conscious on scene but was still transported to a hospital, the Gazette reported.
