Motorcyclist Dead After Hitting House

A Montgomery Village man died after hitting his house with a motorcycle.

A motorcyclist died Friday evening after striking the side of his house in the 20700 block of Highland Hall Drive in Montgomery Village, according to a police statement

Richard Mark Sampson, 44, lost control of a 2002 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle when he turned onto Highland Hall Drive at about 5 p.m. Friday. The motorcycle accelerated, struck the curb, travelled across a grassy area and struck the side of the house, according to the police statement.

The force of that final strike sent Sampson and the motorcycle into the house through a side window. Minutes later, a police officer arrived and found Sampson inside the house, pinned underneath the motorcycle, police reported.

Sampson was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. No one else was injured, police reported.

The incident is under investigation. To report information about it, contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
