Man Struck by Metro at Rockville Station

Unidentified male suffering life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews have rescued a man who was struck by a southbound Red Line Metro Train at the Rockville Station sometime after noon on Friday.

The man's identity had not been released. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, said he is suffering life-threatening injuries to his lower extremities.

The station was closed at 12:41 p.m. and reopened at 1:19 p.m. after the victim was transported to Suburban Hospital. There continue to be Red Line delays.

It is unclear at this time how the man happened to be struck by the train. Garcia said he remained conscious and talked to emergency personnel as they worked to free him.
