A Gaithersburg man has been charged in a late 2011 armed robbery on North Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg police said.
Keishawn Pettaway, 25, of Cinnabar Terrace, was arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, theft of less than $1,000, conspiracy to commit an armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit theft.
On Dec. 30, 2011, a man was entering his residence on North Summit Avenue when an unknown male approached him, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded his wallet, police said.
Pettaway developed as the second suspect during the investigation, police said. Detectives discovered the suspect had fled the state of Maryland and contacted the Maryland State Police Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service for assistance.
Based on their investigation they were able to determine Pettaway had returned to Maryland, where he was located, placed under arrest and was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Center.
He is being held without bond.
