Several Montgomery County Fire crews hurried to the Denny's restaurant today for a small fire that broke out at the eatery in the Montgomery Village Center.
At least three fire trucks responded to the call, which came at 10:55 a.m. with about two dozen customers and workers inside. One of the building's exterior pillars had caught fire, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. Firefighters controlled the blaze before it reached the roof.
"They’re not sure what it was that started the fire yet. They are looking at some possibilities that it was am improperly discarded cigarette," he said.
