Update 11:31 a.m. Sunday: Montgomery County Police have identified the driver in the Saturday night's fatal crash as Immar Enrique Serpas, 30, of the 400 block of Girard Street in Gaithersburg.
The wreck occurred about 10 p.m. at Montgomery Village Avenue and Midcounty Highway, police said.
According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006, Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Montgomery Village Avenue. For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan car left the roadway at the intersection and traveled onto the center median of the roadway and struck a tree.

Serpas, who was the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased on the scene, according to police.
The circumstances remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
