Crime Report: Uptick in Assaults, Robberies

The following information was supplied by Montgomery County Police. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

This crime summary is from the weekly report for May 21 through May 29 from the Montgomery County Police Department's 6th District station, which covers Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg.

An aggravated assault occurred at the Lakeforest Transit Center, 9650 Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg, at around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22. A 40-year-old male from Gaithersburg allegedly threatened the victim with a knife and was arrested.

An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred at a bus stop in the 500 block of Washington Grove Lane outside Gaithersburg at around 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22. The suspect assaulted the victim and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property.  The suspect is described as a black male with dreadlocks, 20 to 26 years old, 5’4” to 5’6” tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds.

An attempted burglary occurred at Selective Demolitions, 8340 Beechcraft Ave.—next to the Montgomery County Airpark outside Gaithersburg— just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken. The first suspect is described as a male, 6’ to 6’3” tall, weighing 200 to 250 pounds and wearing a blue shirt and blue pants. The second suspect is described as a male, 5’8” to 5’11” tall, 150 to 200 pounds, and wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

An aggravated assault occurred at Lakeforest mall, 701 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg, between 10 a.m. and 11 am. on Wednesday, May 23. Six suspects assaulted the victim then fled. The first suspects is described as a black male with dreadlocks, 20 to 24 years old, 5’10” to 5’11” tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. The second suspect is described as a black male wearing a green shirt, 23 to 24 years old, 6’4” to 6’5” tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. The remaining suspects are described as black males, 19 to 24 years old.

An aggravated assault occurred at Mountain Laurel Lane and Flower Hill Way in Flower Hill between 3:30 pm. and 3:50 pm. on Wednesday, May 23. Two suspects assaulted the victim then fled. The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a mustache, 17 to 22 years old, 5’5” tall, 145 pounds, and wearing a yellow t-shirt and khaki pants. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 17 to 22 years old, 5’8” tall, 160 pounds, wearing a black t-shirt and khaki pants.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in front of Montgomery Village Middle School, 19300 Watkins Mill Road in Montgomery Village, between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24. The suspect was assaulted by eight black males and had property taken. 

Two residential burglaries occurred on Saturday, May 26:

  • 6:37 p.m. in the unit block of Swan Stream Court in Gaithersburg at.  Forced entry; nothing taken.
  • between 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. 7800 block of Mineral Springs Drive in Gaithersburg. Forced entry; property taken.

A burglary occurred at around 11:40 pm. on Saturday, May 26 in the 100 block of Lea Pond Court. No forced entry; nothing taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Watkins Station Circle in Gaithersburg at 4:14 pm. on Sunday, May 27. No further information available.

An armed robbery occurred in the 18600 block of Walkers Choice Road in Montgomery Village at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28. Two suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. The suspect is described as a black male with short hair, 5’10” to 6’ tall and weighing 200 pounds. The second suspect is described as a black male 5’10” to 6’ tall and weighing 160 pounds.
