Car Thieves Go On Tire-Stealing Spree

Crime summary covers July 25 through Aug. 2

The following is from the most recent crime summary for the Montgomery County Police Department's Sixth District, which covers Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg. Arrests do not imply guilt.

A theft from a vehicle occurred in the 20400 block of Sawgrass Drive in Eastgate at around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, July 25. A GPS unit and a wallet containing $10 was removed from an unlocked vehicle.

A residential burglary occurred in the 8200 block of Ironclad Court in Emory Grove on Monday, July 25. Property removed; no sign of forced entry.

A series of thefts from vehicles occurred in Chesley Knoll Court and Chesley Knoll Terrace—near the Montgomery County Airpark—at around 4:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26. Property was taken from unlocked vehicles. Montgomery County police arrested an 18-year-old from Silver Spring after officers allegedly observed two suspects entering a vehicle on Chelsey Knoll Court and chased them on foot. The arrested suspect had property on him, according to police. The second suspect escaped and remains unknown.

Two attempted thefts from vehicles occurred in the side parking lot at the Goshen Plaza shopping center at 9100 Rothbury Drive between Tuesday, July 26 and Wednesday, July 27. Windows were broken on both vehicles, but nothing was taken.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 18300 block of Streamside Drive in Flower Hill between Wednesday, July 27 and Thursday, July 28. A 2006 Suzuki Colt was taken.

A residential burglary occurred on Wayridge Court in Stedwick between 1:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 28. Property removed; no sign of forced entry. A car key was taken from the home and used to steal the victim’s blue 2006 Honda Odyssey.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 8700 block of Ravenglass Way in East Village between Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. The Acura was recovered on July 29 at the Montgomery Village Golf Course with all four wheels missing.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 9500 block of Briar Glenn Way in Patton Ridge between Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. The Acura was recovered on July 29 at the Montgomery Village Golf Course with all four wheels missing.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 500 block of Mandolin Court in Gaithersburg between Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. The Honda Accord was recovered at the Montgomery Village Golf Course on July 29 with all four wheels missing.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 8200 block of Streamside Place in Flower Hill between Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. The vehicle was recovered with all four wheels missing.

A domestic-related sex offense occurred in the 9200 block of Chadburn Place in North Village between 8:45 p.m. and 9:04 p.m. on Friday, July 29. The investigation is ongoing.

A theft from a vehicle occurred in the 18500 block of Cherry Laurel Lane in Flower Hill on Sunday, July 31. The victim allegedly observed the suspect remove items from his vehicle. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

A domestic-related aggravated assault occurred in the 18700 block of Nathan’s Place in South Village at around 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1. During an ongoing dispute with the victim, one suspect displayed a handgun and began shooting. The victim did not suffer injuries. Traces of blood were found, but no injured victim. One suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, weighing 185 to 200 pounds and balding. The other suspect is described as a black male, 5’7” tall with the name “Lennox.”
