Cabbie Robbed, Co-Workers Quarrel, Quarter-ton of Copper Wire Stolen

The following information was supplied by Montgomery County Police. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

This crime summary is from the weekly report for April 16 through April 24 from the Montgomery County Police Department's 6th District station, which covers Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg.

An aggravated assault between co-workers occurred at the Hibachi Buffet, 28 Bureau Drive in Gaithersburg at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16. One struck the other in the back of the head with a wooden tray and punched him several times in the face, then fled before police arrived. The suspect is described as an Asian male, 23 years old, 5’3” to 5’6” tall and weighing 145 to 160 pounds.

  • 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 - An adult male victim was approached by three males who pointed a gun (later revealed as plastic) at him and demanded his cash. The victim had none and when they searched his pockets, he grabbed the gun. The suspects began striking the victim but fled without obtaining any property. The suspects are described as a black male and two Hispanic males.
  • 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 - An adult male victim was grabbed by the suspects who began striking him and searching his pockets. They took his wallet and cell phone. The suspects are described as five black males and two Hispanic males.

A residential burglary occurred in the 9000 block of Bannister Lane in Strawberry Knoll sometime between Tuesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 19. Forced entry; nothing taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the unit block of Inkberry Circle in Emory Grove a few minutes before 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 19. The garage door opener was obtained from an unlocked vehicle and used to access the unlocked door to the home. The suspect(s) fled when the alarm system went off.

A residential burglary occurred in the 400 block of Sanders Lane, near Saybrooke, between 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 20 and 8 p.m.  Saturday, April 21. Forced entry; property taken.

A burglary occurred at the Hadley Farms Program (school) at 7401 Hadley Farms Drive in Hadley Farms just before midnight on Friday, April 20. Unknown means of entry; unknown whether anything was taken.

An armed robbery occurred in the unit block of Tindal Springs Court in East Village at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22. The suspect was picked up at the Shady Grove Metro by a cab driver and taken to the area of Tindal Springs. As the suspect got out of the cab, he brandished a gun and demanded cash and personal items before fleeing toward Welbeck Way. The suspect is described as a black male, 24 years old, 5’10” to 6’0” tall, 170 to 180 pounds and wearing a white t-shirt and tan shorts.

A commercial burglary occurred at Airflow Environmental Control, 7845 Airpark Road, near the Montgomery County Airpark, between 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 and 7 a.m. the following morning. The suspects cut through a metal garage door and stole between 300 and 400 pounds of copper wire scrap.

A residential burglary occurred in the 9800 block of Islandside Drive in South Village between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, April 23 Unknown means of entry; unknown whether anything was taken.
