Blaze Breaks Out in Heron's Cove Dryer

Fire contained within minutes; family of five is likely displaced.

A fire started in the clothes dryer of a Horizon Run apartment Friday afternoon, drawing some 40 firefighters to the Montgomery Village community and likely displacing a family of five.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue received the call shortly after 2 p.m. of a fire at 18915 Smoothstone Way. A dozen units—including five fire engines—responded to the call and tamed the blaze "within about five minutes or so," said Asst. Chief Rocky "Mike" Nelson. There were no injuries reported.

"Looks like we’re probably going to have to displace the family," Nelson said.
