6th District Struck by Two More Armed Robberies and an Attempt

The following information was supplied by Montgomery County Police. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

This crime summary is from the weekly report for Jan. 23 through Jan. 31 from the Montgomery County Police Department's 6th District, which covers Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg.

 

An attempted armed robbery occurred in the 19900 block of Spur Hill Drive in Patton Ridge at around 6:50pm on Thursday, Jan. 26. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5’9” to 5’10” tall, and wearing a red sweatshirt under a dark gray coat.

A strong-arm street robbery occurred in the 8600 block of Hawk Run Terrace in East Village at around 7:20pm on Thursday, Jan. 26. The suspect forcefully removed the victim’s property. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6” tall, weighing 160 pounds and wearing all black clothing.

Two Thefts from the construction site of the Gaithersburg Library, 18330 Montgomery Village Ave. In the first theft, property was taken from outside the library overnight between Thursday, Jan. 26 and Friday, Jan. 27. In the second theft, property was taken from a storage box between Friday, Jan. 27 and Monday, Jan. 30.

A residential burglary occurred in the 19400 block of Torran Rocks Terrace outside Gaithersburg, north of the Montgomery County Airpark, between 8pm on Friday, Jan. 27 and 7am on Saturday, Jan. 28. Forced entry; property taken.

A commercial burglary occurred at Wok Express in the Off-Price shopping center, 9615 Lost Knife Road in Montgomery Village, between 11pm on Thursday, Jan. 26 and 10:30am on Friday, Jan. 27. Forced entry; property taken.

An armed robbery occurred at the Dollar Deal Plus, 18238 Flower Hill Way in the Flower Hill shopping center. Shortly after 10:30am on Sunday, Jan. 29, the suspect entered the store as it was opening. He told the clerk he had a gun and to open the register. The clerk was unable to open the register, so the suspect took the clerk’s personal property and began to leave. The clerk followed and got into a fight with the suspect. The clerk suffered minor injuries. The suspect was last seen heading on foot towards Washington Grove Lane. No store proceeds were obtained and the clerk’s personal property was recovered at the scene. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’9” to 6’ tall, weighing approximately 130 to 140 pounds with long black hair and a mustache and beard. He was wearing a red plaid bandana, a gray sweatshirt, sunglasses and dark blue pajama-style pants with small white designs. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 240-773-5100. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and/or indictment. An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 9100 block of Emory Woods Terrace in Emory Grove at around 8:30am on Monday, Jan. 30.  Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
