Forum on Golf Course's Future (Part Two)

Have your say on the fate of the Montgomery Village Golf Course. A housing developer has the purchasing rights for the 148-acre property, but it could be several years before county officials determine how the land can be used. In the meantime, the Montgomery Village Foundation is hosting a series of forums -- called "charrettes" -- where residents and interested parties can brainstorm the possibilities. The golf course's charrette is split into two parts:

DAY ONE (Thursday, May 19)

Open to residents. All sessions held at Montgomery Village Golf Course.

   9 a.m. Meet at Montgomery Village Club House

  • Introductions
  • Review charrette process and schedule
  • Brief review of community input from the first two charrettes

   9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Site analysis and tour

  • Existing site conditions
  • Identify all buildable areas
  • Document site constraints
  • Review available maps
  • Tour perimeter and other areas of the golf course – community view sheds
  • Photograph existing conditions

   2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Prepare diagram of existing conditions 

   7:30 p.m. Community charrette

  • Introductions
  • MVF - overview of process
  • Wiencek and Associates – timeline and ground rules
  • Review results from previous charrettes
  • Presentation of existing conditions and site analysis
  • Discussion

DAY TWO  (Monday, May 23)

   9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Develop concepts

   11 a.m. – noon Discussion group and critique of concepts

   7:30 p.m. Design charrette

  • Introductions
  • MVF - Overview of process
  • Wiencek and Associates - Review results from previous charrettes
  • Presentation of concepts
  • Discussion
