The Importance & Significance of American Education

The Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences is pleased to
host Tom Farquhar, Head of School at Sidwell Friends in Washington, D.C., on
April 30 at 7 pm. Mr Farquhar will examine how parents and policy-makers in
other countries view the American education system. Having explored various international
educational systems used around the world, Mr. Farquhar will speak from his own
experiences to demonstrate how great American schools provide students with
opportunities for problem-solving and creativity, rather than simply requiring
students to memorize pre-digested course content for the purpose of higher test
scores. He will underscore the value of experiential learning, and explain how
the traditions of American education have established a legacy that has
contributed to the dynamism of both social and economic life in the United
States. Please RSVP at BarnesvilleSchool.org/speaker.
