VIDEO: The ICC in 37 Seconds

A time-lapse trip along Maryland's newest highway.

This morning Patch took a ride on the Intercounty Connector from Georgia Avenue (MD 97) westbound to where it connects to Interstate 370 in Gaithersburg.

The trip took almost exactly seven minutes.

Drivers who want to traverse the new all-electronic toll road can do so for free until March 7. After that, a toll of between 60 cents and $1.45 will be collected via E-ZPass, depending on the time of day.

There are no toll booths.

Anyone who drives on the road after March 7 and doesn't pay the toll will have the toll mailed to their home with an additional $3 processing fee added after April 6.

The second segment of the road, which will pick up where the first segment ends at MD 97, will extend east through Prince Georges County and terminate at Interstate 95.
