Grab & Go Kids Planner: April 1-3

Where to take your kids for a good time this weekend.

  • , Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2: Theater presentation at Montgomery Village Middle School, open to all, cost is $5.
  • , Friday, April 1: A great way children ages 5 and younger to burn energy; stop by for some fun with balls, hula hoops and riding toys (you may bring your own). Parents must supervise their children at all times. Program runs from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.; cost: $12/resident child, $18/non-resident child, $8/additional child in same family.
  • , Friday, April 1: Grab the family for dinner or take your staff at lunch to the Holiday Inn’s Friday Fish Fry. Beer batter coated fresh haddock filet fried golden brown served with generous helping of fries and coleslaw.
  • , Friday, April 1: Come and cheer on Watkins Mill High School. Game time is 5:15 p.m.
  • , Friday, April 1 through April 23: The Bunny is returning to Lakeforest on Friday, April 1st and will be available for hugs and photos through April 23rd at the Bunny’s Garden in Sears Court.
  • , Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 10: A variety events for all ages including the Bloomin’ Junior Ranger Tent, where children will join park rangers for hands-on activities. On Friday, get ready for the Ikebana International Annual Spring Flower Show. Saturday is the Cherry Blast III, a Multi-media Festival party with cutting-edge DJs, visual and performance artists, and ever-cool sensory experiences, presented by HEW Federal Credit Union. Or get ready to go on a free Lantern Walk, offered Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a guided by the light of festive lanterns, rangers will guide you on an evening walk around the Tidal Basin.
  • , Sunday, April 3: Come dressed to impress as Kentlands Mansion’s hosts a delightful new event, the Daughter & Doll Tea Party.  Young ladies dressed in their finery accompanied by their favorite dolls are invited to an afternoon of tea sandwiches, fruits, breads, scones, and desserts in the elegant surroundings of this century-old estate.  The party will take place on Sunday, April 3 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.  Earl Grey and fruit teas will be served, and lemonade will be available upon request.  Free digital photos will be taken and e-mailed to participants after the event. Reservations are required.  Admission is $20 per person for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and under.
  • , Daily until April 18: Students are invited to send in a drawing for a t-shirt design contest sponsored by Washington Revels.  The winning design will go on the official SunFest 2011 t-shirt for the 2nd Annual Washington Revels SunFest.
