When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 9801 Centerway Road.

Why Go: Only four weeks left to get your hands on those farm-fresh fruits and veggies, plus a wide array of meats and dairy products.

3. MVSA Chiefs Homecoming

When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at South Valley Park

Why Go: The Chiefs are off to a great season, and homecoming weekend pits them against the Southern Maryland Eagles. The festivities include a moon bounce, DJ, food, face painting and more.

4. 31st Annual Pumpkin Festival

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at , 22200 Davis Mill Rd. in Germantown

Why Go: The festival runs the next three weekends, featuring hayrides, giant slides, Barnyard Buddies, a Rubber Ducky Derby, a straw maze, live music, food vendors and more.

5. 5th Annual “Restore the Joy” Domestic Violence Luncheon

When/Where: Saturday, 11 a.m. at the , 2 Montgomery Village Ave.

Why Go: The luncheon is hosted by Women Who Care Ministries and the Victims’ Rights Foundation, in partnership with the City of Gaithersburg. The 2011 event, which offers messages of inspiration and hope along with vital resource information, will feature a keynote address by Barbara Talley. Talley is a speaker, poet, author and publisher of many valued-based living products. She is high-energy, with a special talent for inspiring her listeners as she addresses such topics as goal setting, balancing work and family, empowerment, values, personal leadership, and effective communication. Talley will be joined by special guest Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown. “Restore the Joy” features a resource fair, a discussion on various issues related to domestic violence by a panel of experts, inspirational performances, and vendor information. Early registration is recommended as seating is limited and the event is expected to sell out. Guests are encouraged to bring child-friendly nutritious foods for the Women Who Care Ministries Helping Kids Eat Backpack Weekend Food Program.  Donations will support the more than 500 backpacks that go home with area children each Friday to ensure that they don’t go hungry over the weekend.

Why Go: This scramble-format foursomes tournament benefits the USO.
