County Fair Primed for Opening

63rd edition runs today until Aug. 20 at Gaithersburg fairgrounds.

The barns and grandstand are prepped, Midway rides are up and frying oil is hot and ready: the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair is primed to kick off at 3 p.m. today in Gaithersburg, bringing nine days of food, fur and family fun.

"It's Udderly Terrific" is the theme for this, the AgFair’s 63rd edition, which runs from 10 a.m. until midnight through Aug. 20.

The fairgrounds are 16 Chestnut St. Admission is $10 per person; kids 11 years old or younger get in free. Nine-day passes are $75. Parking is $5 (Perry Parkway entrance), but the shuttle from Lakeforest Mall is free.

  • RC Car Racing 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. (near The Cheese Booth)
  • “Fair’s Got Talent” 7 p.m. (Pepco Community Stage)
  • Lawnmower racing 7:30 p.m. (grandstand)

  • RC Car Racing 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Veggie 500 Races 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Community Square)
