Ten Concrete Actions Needed in Montgomery Village

I am a candidate for the 2014 Montgomery Village Board of Directors.

Montgomery Village faces strategic challenges both internal and external. Internal issues facing the Village are self-imposed. Recovering from their effects will take action not just words. Here are ten concrete steps I plan to take to impact the issues:

  1. Reintroduce democracy by reinstating the earlier 5-minute Residents Time at MVF Board meetings.
  2. Keep the Kettler Brothers promise to keep Montgomery Village Golf Course a golf course.
  3. Discontinue the use of MVF signature use on the Internet to protect against the risk of identity theft which is real and present. Even those who sign up for Residents’ Time can find their signatures on the Internet.
  4. Renovate the 2030 Vision to eliminate objectionable conceptual designs before they become actual designs. Scrap the four-story parking garage at the Professional Center. Scrap the relocation of MVF offices to the Shopping Center. Scrap the six-story office building at the Professional Center.
  5. Adopt modern Earned Value Management business practices for selected, high value MVF projects, such as, the South Valley Restroom and Concession Stand. This will ensure resident visibility to clear schedules and milestones and progress updates in achieving them not now available.
  6. Designate South Valley Park as an environmental nature preserve.
  7. Reduce the cost and limit the environmental risk of the South Valley Restroom and Concession Stand by eliminating the restrooms. Yes, it appears there’s more than one restroom in the works.
  8. Rectify the MVF Board member violation of fiduciary responsibility stemming from the MVF-MVSA Memorandum of Understanding that places the interests of the MVSA above those of Village residents.
  9. Require full disclosure in the MVF Board application process by applicants, staff, and board members by asking each applicant, “Is your house currently listed for sale?”
  10. Give the Village brand “Flourishing” a rest; it is being run into the ground.

I am committed to meeting these challenges on behalf of Village residents. You have a friend in me.
