Farmers Market Set for Second Summer

Wineries, new vendors and mobile app are on tap this season.

After taking root last year, the Montgomery Village's very own farmers market is ready to sprout for its second summer offering up the freshest fruits, veggies, breads, meats, cheeses, sweets, herbs and more.

Starting Saturday, the market will set up each every week in the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church parking lot (9801 Centerway Road) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 2 through Oct. 27.

Saturday’s season-starting celebration opens to a wider array of vendors and products, and a summer that will feature weekly speakers and special guest vendors. Be sure to get there early: Last year, the line was 100 deep by the 9 a.m. opening as the 300 free reusable bags were claimed within the first hour.

Starting June 9, the market will feature presentations by a vendor discussing some aspect of their goods.

A pair of special guest vendors so far includes a pair of local wineries:

This summer also brings a crop of new vendors with their fruit preserves and jams, flowers, artisan chocolates and herbal teas:

Last but not least, the market is going a bit high-tech with a mobile app featuring a list of vendors (with their products and links to their websites) and updates with all the last info.
