Moms, dads and grandparents were busy looking for bargains Saturday at Montgomery Village Foundation’s 17th annual Baby Bazaar at the Lake Marion Community Center. More than 50 vendors sold children’s toys, clothes and books, as well as larger items, such as cribs and carriers.
Most of the items were what Emily Fields, Lake Marion’s director, referred to as “gently used.”
“It’s a good place for people to bring things their kids have outgrown,” she said. “Everything is in good condition. If it’s not, it won’t sell.”

Fields noticed more fathers on hand this year than in the previous four she has helped organize.
“I don’t know if they’re here to carry things or what,” she said, smiling.

The bazaar has consistently signed up close to its limit of 59 vendors, and, according to Fields, it drew more shoppers in the first hour than at the same time in previous years.
“We’re busy today,” she said. “We’re extra busy today.”
During the first three hours, almost 400 people attended the Baby Bazaar.
