Leify Green Consipiracy Kicks Off Summer Concert Series

The Montgomery Village Foundation's Picnic in the Park series began with a sunny evening with the Leify Green Conspiracy.

The Picnic in the Park concert series began Sunday evening with gorgeous skies hardly reminiscent of the storm on Friday. Roughly 75 Montgomery Village residents and their guests brought lawn chairs and blankets, and picniced on the lawn at the South Valley Park, just below Montgomery Village Avenue.

The first band to kick off the summer concert series was the Leify Green Conspiracy. Leify Green plays guitars and handles lead vocals. With him are John Lawton on lead guitar, Luke Solomon on bass, and Yerodin Sanders on drums. With an energeticly organic sound and positive tunes, the Leify Green Conspiracy was a great event for young and old, without ever getting stale or slow. You could tell the band was just as thrilled to be playing for us, and thanked us several times for coming out to enjoy the music, the sun, and each other's company.

Janice Serlo of the Montgomery Village Foundation also took a moment to thank everyone for coming out, and reminded us that this was just the beginning of the weekly concert series. Sunday June 10th is the stylings of the Navy Cruisers Navy band. Check out the MVF calendar for the following Sunday evening acts. And visit the Leify Green Conspiracy wbesite for music and upcoming dates. Concerts are every Sunday through June and July, beginning at 6:00pm. There is parking near Watkins Mill Elementary School, or you could walk.
