Acoustrix to rock this week's Lawn Theater concert.

1. Mute Swan Memorial

When/Where: Thursday, 6:30 p.m., at Lake Whetstone Park, 18701 Montgomery Village Ave.

Why Go: Remember, reflect, rejoice. It’s been four years since Montgomery Village’s beloved mute swan fell victim to a passing motorist on MVAve. In a show of how little their fondness and affection for the swan has dimmed, members of Friends of Whetstone Lake are commemorating a plaque in the swan’s memory.

2. Blackberry Picking at Butler’s Orchard

When/Where: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (closed Mondays) at 22200 Davis Mill Road in Germantown.
Why Go: Peak season for picking your own blackberries. ‘Nuff said.
Pricing: $2.49 per pound (bring your own bucket or buy one there)

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at , 18056 Central Park Circle in Boyds

Why Go: If you haven't been to the Splash Playground yet this season, there’s no better time than now to dash your way through the water maze, stand under the bucket drop or sit on the spraying animals. Then enjoy 18 holes of miniature golf after cooling off.

Pricing: $5 per person per activity or $7.50 for a splash and golf combo (one round of golf, all day at the splash playground).  Kids under age 2 are admitted for free. For more information, call 301-670-4680.

4. Out on the Lake

When/Where: Friday through Monday (until Labor Day), 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the south dock at , 18701 Montgomery Village Ave.

Why Go: Make the most of the by taking one of the Montgomery Village Foundation’s five paddle boats, four rowboats or four canoes out for a spin. Call 301-948-0110, Ext. 2303 for more information.

Pricing: Village residents who show their MVF Activity Card can rent canoes and rowboats for $5/hour, and paddle boats for $4/half-hour. Non-residents pay $2 more per rental. Renters without activity cards must present a valid driver’s license or other identification. Renters must be at least 16 years old.

When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 9801 Centerway Road.

Why Go: Farm-fresh fruits and veggies, plus a wide array of meats and dairy products.

Pricing: Admission is free.

6. Summer Concert Series: Acoustrix

When/Where: Sunday, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Lawn Theater in , 18850 Montgomery Village Ave. (Parking lot is next to Watkins Mill Elementary School).

Why Go: Scott Martin, Jonathan Naugle, Mike Persh and Sue Bahr are bringing their brand of acoustic rock from Main Street Café in the Kentlands over to the Village’s Lawn Theater. The all-acoustic group counts the classics of rock among their repertoire, anything from Jimmy Buffet to Jethro Tull to Janis Joplin. Time is running out on the Summer Concert Series; only three Sunday shows are left.

Pricing: Free. (Call 301-948-0110, ext. 2334 after 5 p.m. Sunday to see if the concert has been rained out.
