Why Go: Watkins Mill turned heads last week with their near defeat of perennial powerhouse Damascus. Likewise the Blake Bengals, with their tough battle against Sherwood. Both programs still have something to prove. If that isn’t enough, come watch The Gazette’s Dan Greenberg scarf down the Booster Club’s best eats in his hunt for the county's most sublime concession stand.

2. Haggle to Your Heart's Content

Why Go: The Montgomery Village Foundation kicks off its lineup of fall outings with the , which features dozens of vendors offering up all manner of trinkets and knickknacks.

3. Montgomery Village Farmers Market

When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 9801 Centerway Road.

Why Go: Farm-fresh fruits and veggies, plus a wide array of meats and dairy products.

4. Celebrate Gaithersburg in Olde Towne

When/Where: Sunday, noon to 5 p.m., along South Summit Avenue in front of .

Why Go: Marking its 30th year, the Celebrate Gaithersburg festival brings out a bounty of food and family fun. This year’s lineup includes five stages of live entertainment, an array of local restaurants, an environmentally themed “Green Zone,” a marketplace, and, for the first time, a “Gaithersburg’s Got Talent” band and dance competition. Nearly 20,000 people turned out last year.
