Sen. Nancy King has reported that the $125,000 bond bill for the restroom and concession facility in South Valley Park was approved by the state legislature. The Montgomery Village Sports Association will be the recipient of the state funds and will be working with the Montgomery Village Foundation to move the project forward. The lack of permanent restroom facilities at the park poses a real problem for families at sporting events and for many older and disabled citizens who come to watch the children play. The concession stand will provide MVSA the ability to sell refreshments which will enhance the enjoyment of the hundreds of participants and spectators of park events.
“I believe a partnership between the leaders from MVSA and the MVF Board and staff will work together to make this important project a reality for current and future users of South Valley Park,” said MVF board president Bob Hydorn.
This joint project will benefit Village residents, the MVSA and many upcounty residents as well.
King will coordinate with the State Board of Public Works to ensure the design and construction of the project moves forward in a timely manner.
