Red Line Single Tracks Between Shady Grove, Twinbrook

Metro advised passengers traveling through either work zone to allow for 15 minutes of additional travel time.

Red Line trains single track this weekend—from 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, through closing on Sunday—in two work zones, according to Metro's website.

Single tracking will take place:

  • Between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations, to allow for platform improvements.
  • Between the Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue stations, to allow for the installation of cable and signal components.

"Throughout the weekend, trains between Shady Grove and Glenmont will operate every 24 minutes. Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, additional trains will operate between Grosvenor and Judiciary Square, resulting in service [at] an average of every 12 minutes between these stations," Metro reported on its website.

Metro advised passengers traveling through either work zone to allow for 15 minutes of additional travel time.
