Incoming Lockheed Martin CEO Resigns After Ethics Investigation
Investigation revealed Christopher E. Kubasik, slated to become Lockheed's CEO in January, had a "close personal relationship" with a subordinate employee, Lockheed announced.
The incoming CEO of Bethesda-based defense giant Lockheed Martin resigned Friday after an ethics investigation revealed he had a "close personal relationship" with a subordinate employee, according to news reports.
Lockheed Martin announced the resignation of Christopher E. Kubasik, the company's vice-chairman, president and COO.
The announcement came the same day that President Obama accepted the resignation of Gen. David Petraeus from his position as director of the Central Intelligence Agency—also reportedly due to personal indiscretions.
According to Petraeus' resignation letter, he quit because he had engaged in an extramarital affair, NBC News reported.
At Lockheed Martin, Kubasik was slated to become the company's CEO in January.
“While I am deeply disappointed and saddened by Chris’ actions, which have been inconsistent with our values and standards, our swift response to his improper conduct demonstrates our unyielding commitment to holding every employee accountable for their actions,” said Robert J. Stevens, Lockheed Martin chairman and CEO, in a statement.
President and COO Marillyn Hewson, 58, will take Kubasik's place as CEO Jan. 1, according to the statement.

What confuses me is if the Director of the CIA has to resign over this, and the CEO of Lockheed Martin loses his job -- tell me again about Bill Clinton, head of the Executive Branch, that included the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and his relationship with the naive intern - and how he was so indignant about people questioning his actions???? It could compromise these people, but not POTUS????

?? Are you serious? He didn't "ha[ve] to resign," just like anyone who thought Clinton should have been impeached over a blowjob is a moron. I take it you're one of those people.

Jim Burnetti raises an interesting point, and Jag and Frank respond by throwing up a couple of red herrings. Bill Clinton as sitting president lied under oath, and it doesn't matter what for. Just ask the FBI if they care what you're lying about when they do investigations. Under oath, a lie is a lie is a lie, and Clinton did it and forever disgraced himself. Yes, he's charismatic, an amazing politician, and is doing great work through the Clinton Foundation. But he lied to the American people -- directly, emphatically, and numerous times -- and he lied under oath as well, which caused him to be impeached and disbarred (he got his law license back in 2006). If Jag has children, I wonder if he tells them "it's important to be honest and treat others with respect in all aspects of life ... unless you're a powerful politician or CEO, then you can have affairs with young women (even interns your daughter's age!) at your workplace (even the Oval Office!) and be justified in lying because you live by different standards of honest and integrity. Sheesh.

No, it is not an interesting point. It's an inane comparison that doesn't make any sense. You writing another 15 sentences about it makes even less sense. Congrats.

I'm with RobertS, and jag's comments are typical troll material. Dishonesty is as dishonesty does. Clinton is a charming cad but he wasn't impeached b/c of what he did with the cigar to Ms. Lewinsky or the sexual services he received from her in the Oval Office, but for LYING about it. No president is above the law. Just ask Nixon. Clinton will get his due in the history books, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
